ReadySupp’s Flora Harris Wins Bramham CCI3* in Supreme Style

10301461_10207069685570499_8589307884635909624_nReadySupp team rider Flora Harris enjoyed her first 3* win at Bramham International Horse Trials on the weekend with the 9 year old gelding Bayano.

The pair, who lead a strong field of top riders from the start with a 36.8  dressage score went on to storm around the hilly XC track, which posed questions everywhere, to finish with a foot perfect showjumping clear on Sunday to take top honours.

Flora, who is now back home in Berkshire said, “Bayano jumped brilliantly around the XC and he was so quick. I didn’t know how he would cope with the course as there were questions from start to finish and he’d never been around a hilly track. There was a double of corners before the water that I thought could have been a tricky fence for him, but he was brilliant!”

“All went really well and to go clear inside the time on an inexperienced horse was amazing.”

Harris was still in the lead coming in to the showjumping final phase on Sunday and said, “There was so much pressure, and although he’s a great showjumper I had no idea how the horse would come out as the previous day was tough, and he’s still quite young.” Bayano was one of only five 9 year olds competing in the CCI3* class.

The victory gives Harris her fourth international win. She won Hopetoun 2* with Cezano H, and finished 2nd at Blair 3* in 2014 on Amazing VIII. When asked how it felt she said, “It was amazing, everyone was so generous and the top riders are quick to congratulate. That makes it special.”

On making time to watch some of the riders Flora said, “Kitty King was pure class as was William Fox-Pitt. It’s easy to see why he’s the best in the world. He’s a genius.”

Harris acknowledges the great team she has around her including her dressage trainer Andrew Fletcher who has watched her produce sub 40 dressage scores recently. In May she set a new record at Tattersalls Horse Trials along with sam Griffiths, and she was the highest placed Brit after the first day of dressage at Badminton this year.

Flora and her team will be heading to Nunney in Somerset on the 19th of June.
